Our Story
From Passion to Plate
Sammy was born and raised in India. As a young adult, she began cooking at the Korean Embassy in New Delhi, where she learned and expanded her craft alongside many incredible chefs. After 13 years, she made the courageous move to Alberta, Canada.
She was among the first to introduce East Indian cuisine to Medicine Hat in 1999, cooking at the Medicine Hat Inn.
In 2016, she started Sammy’s Little India, helping popularize East Indian cuisine through tasting parties and the Farmers’ Market.
She eventually found a home at the Medicine Hat Curling Club, running the kitchen and catering to the public, its members, and the many bonspiels. She even found time to bring her Curry in a Hurry food truck on the road.
In 2022, her vision for a small restaurant – one where she could cook everything from scratch – finally came to life.
Today, Sammy’s Kitchen & Bar continues that journey – Our chef prepares Western food using fresh ingredients, serving thoughtfully prepared food in a warm atmosphere where guests can relax, celebrate, and create lasting memories.
